String Theory  (2017)

Software Sculpture: Computer Software, Computer Hardware, Fan, Ribbon, Projector, Projection Surface

String Theory is a meeting of two shadow ribbons on a semi-virtual plane, an intermediary space where the virtual and physical worlds meet as equals. One shadow is created by a black ribbon attached to a large fan that sits between a projector and a screen; the other is simulated by a microcomputer and projected on to the same surface. Together, they occupy the same plane, both physical and virtual, but do they touch? Do they meet? Do they dance?
